View under the microsope

Why is the microscope so important?

  1. Precision: The microscope provides us with an unparalleled view of the tooth and its root canals. Thanks to powerful magnification and excellent illumination, we can discern even the smallest details and work with precision. This leads to improved accuracy and effectiveness in treatment.

  2. Advanced Diagnosis: With the microscope, we can detect dental issues much more accurately. We can identify early signs of infections, cracks, or other complications. With this detailed diagnosis, we can create a tailored treatment plan that meets your specific needs.

  3. Thorough Cleaning: Successful endodontic treatment requires thorough cleaning of the root canals. The microscope allows us to inspect the entire canal system and carefully remove all infected tissue remnants. This significantly increases the treatment's success rate.

  4. Precise Canal Preparation: Using the microscope, we can prepare the root canals with precision. The precise shaping ensures the optimal fit for the root canal filling, contributing to the long-term stability of the tooth and minimizing the risk of complications.

  5. Improved Prognosis: The use of the microscope directly impacts the success prospects of endodontic treatment. Precise treatment under the microscope leads to a higher success rate and reduces the risk of subsequent issues. You can trust that we provide you with the best chances for a successful recovery.

Do root canals treatments actually work?

Indeed, root canal treatment, or endodontics, is a highly effective method for resolving infections. In a root canal procedure, the infected tissue within the tooth is carefully removed, and the root canals are meticulously cleaned and sealed. This process effectively treats the infection, allowing the tooth to regain its health. The success rate for endodontic treatments typically falls within the range of 85% to 97% (Source: American Association of Endodontists). This means that in the majority of cases, the treatment is successful, and the tooth can be preserved for the long term.

It is important to note that treatment success depends on various factors, including the extent of the infection and the precision of the procedure. Therefore, a thorough evaluation by an experienced endodontist is crucial to ensure the best possible outcome for each patient

Can a root canal treatment be repeated? (Revision treatment/Retreatment)

Yes, a root canal treatment can be repeated, a procedure known as "revision treatment." Revision treatment is necessary when a previously performed root canal treatment was not successful or if the tooth becomes infected again. During revision treatment, the endodontist removes the existing filling material, thoroughly cleans the root canals again, and reseals them to eliminate the infection.

Revision treatment is an important option for preserving the affected tooth, and a repeat root canal treatment can be successful in many cases. However, it's crucial that revision treatment is performed by an experienced endodontist, as it is often more complex than the initial root canal treatment

Are root canal treatments painful?

Absolutely not! Modern endodontics has made significant advancements to enhance patient comfort during and after treatment. With the use of local anesthesia, high-quality instruments, advanced techniques, and materials, endodontists aim to provide a pain-free experience.
